What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Football Coach position at New Mexico Highlands University?
Assist the Head Football Coach in preparing and conducting individual team practices, training, competition game planning, and recruiting. This incumbent will also assist in academic monitoring for the program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize, prepare and conduct individual team practices, training and competition.
- Recruit high quality student athletes to participate in athletics for NMHU
- Develop high expectations for student athletes to achieve in the classroom as well as in the playing venue
- Develop performance standards for student athletes to maximize their potential and achieve high levels of competition
- Assess athletic performance and improvement and provide feedback and guidance regarding athletic progress
- Effectively deliver instruction and motivation
- Develop and implement practice plans and strategies for athletic events
- Provide mentorship for student athletes by supplying academic and social networks
- Supervise NMHU athletic events and enforce sportsmanship standards
- Supervise student athletes during road trips
- Schedule non-conference athletic contests
- Provide positive participation in events that will benefit the athletic experience for student athletes
- Participate in the planning of as well as participate in fundraising activities for individual programs and for the athletic department in general
- Adhere to NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and NMHU policies, rules and regulations
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any field;
- Experience: None
o Preferred: Collegiate playing experience if the candidate does not have full time coaching employment experience
Special Conditions for Eligibility
Must successfully complete the NCAA Coaches Curriculum within the first two (2) weeks of employment
Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and odd hours as required.
