What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jewelry and Metalsmithing Instructor - Temporary Per-Course position at New Mexico Highlands University?
This is a Temporary Per-Course Contingent Faculty position for the Spring 2025 Semester. This position will teach undergraduate or graduate per course class(es) in the following disciplines in the Art and Music Department: Jewelry and Small metal construction 1, Jewelry and Metalsmithing 2, Jewelry and Metalsmithing 3, Jewelry and Metalsmithing 4 or other courses as necessary in the department.
Availability depends on the needs of the university each semester.
Duties and Responsibilities
Availability depends on the needs of the university each semester.
Teach undergraduate or graduate per course class(es) synchronously or asynchronously, as needed. Evaluate students. Participate in trainings and orientations. Hold regular office hours. Become proficient with Banner and Brightspace, as well as use of Zoom technology, depending on assigned course.
Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree with 18 hours in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience and prior teaching experience at college level and/or terminal degree desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of course content: ability to organize course material and deliver course content that takes into account student needs; ability to provide corrective feedback; ability to dedicate sufficient time to prepare for class and grade assignments. Knowledge on Shop Safety and Studio organization.
