New Mexico Tech (NMT) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President for University Advancement to join its senior leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a nationally recognized STEM-focused institution by leading and elevating its fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications, and government relations efforts.
As a direct report to the President and a member of the executive cabinet, the VP will lead a unified advancement strategy that enhances NMT’s visibility, grows philanthropic support, builds strong external partnerships, and strengthens relationships with state and federal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an accomplished advancement professional with a strong track record in campaign leadership, strategic communications, and institutional positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead university-wide fundraising, alumni relations, and donor engagement strategies.
- Oversee marketing and communications to strengthen NMT’s brand and public image.
- Collaborate with the President on government and legislative relations.
- Guide comprehensive campaigns and cultivate major donor relationships.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing advancement team culture.
- Use data and analytics to drive decision-making and performance.
- Represent NMT at major events and with key external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive leadership in advancement, fundraising, or related fields
- Proven experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven institutions
- Success leading large-scale campaigns and integrated communications strategies
- Exceptional interpersonal and political acumen
- Master's degree (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Willingness to travel and represent the university nationally
