Job Overview
This Part-time Library Assistant position plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our library, providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and local patrons. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized circulation area, circulating library materials, and assisting with various administrative tasks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain the circulation area in an efficient and organized manner
- Circulate library materials utilizing an automated system
- Assist with reserve services, directional information, and patron database management
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and local patrons
- Coordinate hold and recall requests, resolve overdue issues, and collect fines
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some experience in a library setting preferred
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of college policies and procedures affecting assigned work
- Knowledge of general library procedures/policies and integrated library system functions
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
