About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high
school and junior college complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to
1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum at the high school level and is
currently developing a new middle school.
Position: Under the supervision of the Athletic Director or their designee, this position is responsible for, but is not
limited to, duties as an Athletic Trainer for junior college and high school athletics and a minimal load teaching Athletic
Training and/or HPER courses. The position can accommodate a variety of professional experience levels in Athletic
Training. Computer literate in Word, Excel, and other major software programs; must maintain professional and ethical
academic standards; provide athletic training services as assigned, in accordance with established procedures and
standards of care; maintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and student records in accordance with published deadlines;
participate actively in staff development and professional growth programs; participate in recruitment activities; assist
student-athletes with transfer to four-year programs; carry a fair share of other duties (department and committee work,
community outreach, etc.). This is an exempt, 10-month, full-time position. The salary ranges from $50,000.00 to
$56,000.00. The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
Provide class instruction in accordance with established
course outlines.
Provide professional athletic training services as
directed.
Inform students concerning course requirements,
evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
Maintain necessary medical, attendance, scholastic, and
student records and submit them in accordance with
published deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge of a wide range of CPR and first aid
techniques.
Knowledge of injury evaluation techniques.
Knowledge of sports medicine, physical therapy, and
rehabilitation techniques.
Skill in effective oral and written communication.
Skill in developing and administering budgets.
Skill in utilizing computer and software technology.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or a related field
and demonstrate a plan to obtain a Master’s Degree
within 5 years of hire.
Proof of Board of Certification, Athletic Training
Certification.
Proof of or eligibility to obtain NM Athletic Training
Licensure.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Athletic Training or an HPERrelated field.
Previous athletic training experience.
Ability to teach a variety of HPER courses.
