About New Mexico Military Institute: The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported,
co-educational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels.
With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience
complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school
curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates
cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory
Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum emphasizing immersive, intensive,
hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position: Under the supervision of the Commandant of Cadets and in general support of the Deputy
Commandant for Operations and Deputy Commandant for Support. The Data Entry Clerk performs clerical and
data entry support. The Data Entry Clerk provides weekly cadet disciplinary rosters in support of the
Commandant’s Staff. This is a non-exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The Salary for this position is
$31,200.00 ($15.00 per hour). The job description is available upon request.
Tasks
Process and maintain various reports, activities, and
files to include status reports, demerit, pre-tour and
tour logs, disciplinary probation and deportment
grades, disciplinary status, furlough categories,
permissions and requests, Harry Morrison
competition, excessive tours; answers telephones and
greet office visitors.
Coordinates with the DCS pertaining to selection of
the Cadet (student of the month).
Files cadet records, cadet and parent documentation,
and updates the Cadet Record Review, as required.
Coordinates with other educational establishments
specific to cadet/student records for both incoming
and departing cadets.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of the Institute’s mission, organization,
function, purpose and goals, and operations.
Skill in interacting with youth and young adults.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective working
relationships within the department and with other
Institute departments.
Skill in keyboarding at a level of 60 words per minute.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy environment.
Visual ability, corrected to verify written information at a
close range and locate and correctly place mailings,
records, files, and supplies.
