About New Mexico Military Institute: The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, coeducational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student
body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior
Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for
higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive
curriculum emphasizing immersive, intensive, hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position: Under general supervision, performs functions and tasks of primary skilled trades area and assists other Trades
Technicians as needed. Each Skilled Trades Technician will normally perform work in his primary area of skilled trade.
Occasionally, a Skilled Trades Technician may be assigned to one of his secondary areas of skilled trade. All should be
able to perform other duties as assigned. This is a non-exempt, 12-months, full-time position. The salary for this position
is $40,163.00 (19.31 per hour) annually. The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
Builds structures from scratch; performs remodeling
including taping, dry walling, texturing, setting
doors, windows, etc.; builds cabinets, shelving units,
cabinet tops, cabinet sets, etc.
Prepares, patches, finishes, and maintains all
surfaces (wood, plaster, drywall, steel, concrete,
brick, etc.) by recognized procedures and techniques
of the painting trade, interior and exterior, in
conjunction with decorated and protected areas
Maintains, repairs, and conducts preventative
maintenance on both manual and electronic locks;
maintains locks in working order
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge of the individual’s primary area of
skilled trade.
Knowledge of basic maintenance techniques in
secondary areas of skilled trades.
Ability to obtain knowledge of the NMMI
Operations and Procedures Manual.
Knowledge of the most effective preventative
maintenance procedures for the primary area of
skilled trade.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma, or equivalent, or the ability to
obtain in six months.
Possess a valid state driver’s license.
Three years of building maintenance experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree.
Bilingual.
