About New Mexico Military Institute: The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a statesupported, co-educational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior
college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic
experience complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high
school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program
facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate
Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum that emphasizes
immersive, intensive, and hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position: NMMI and NMMI-IPA are accepting applications for Substitute Teachers. Substitute Teachers
may be called upon to teach up to 5 sections per day or 4 sections plus supervision duties comparable to one
section. This is a non-exempt part-time position. NMMI’s and IPA's compensation rate for Substitute Teachers
is $30 per section, not to exceed $100 per day. Military experience is not required.
Tasks:
Follow lesson plans and instructions of the
teacher.
Maintain a learning environment through
effective classroom management.
Monitor, supervise, and account for students in
class and non-academic segments of the school
day in both indoor and outdoor settings at the
school.
Follow instructions of the academic division
Associate Dean and of the Vice Dean of
Academics/High School Principal and/or of the
IPA Head of School and IPA Administrative
Staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Willingness to communicate and collaborate with the
teaching team and with staff.
Ability to obtain knowledge of policies and
procedures related to NMMI or IPA functions.
