Job Summary:
The Accountant will perform accounting duties, including journal entries, reporting, analysis, and audit/reconciliation of accounts. The Accountant will also maintain a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant reports and financial statements.
Essential Functions:
- Recommend policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently administer finance and accounting programs.
- Maintain general account ledgers and handle a variety of funds.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Compile, analyze, and enter data, prepare reports, and develop recommendations for policies, procedures, or control systems.
- Work with leadership in planning, coordination, and implementation of annual budget.
- Assist with audit and oversight of financial statements, departmental commitments, and processing deadlines.
- Prepare and review expense vouchers, invoices, purchase requisitions or other transactions in compliance with approved budgets and procedures.
- Determine proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Perform duties related to payroll, personnel actions or similar procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field of study and at least one (1) to two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Must have strong knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Competencies include, but are not limited to, accuracy and attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, financial and accounting systems, financial reporting, problem solving, business math, accounting, teamwork, and managing expenses and finances.
