Summary : The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of biology education research. We are a department dedicated to research, teaching and training, and will prioritize candidates who share these commitments.
Classification Summary : Tenure-track assistant professor of biology, dedicated to research, teaching, education and training.
Classification Standard Duties :
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biology within one's area of expertise as well as at the introductory level.
- Develop an independent research program that will provide avenues for grant funding.
- Mentorship of undergraduate and graduate student research.
- Productivity in scholarship, as measured by publications or other creative venues.
- Assist the Biology Department with multiple undergraduate academic issues including
departmental committee assignments, advising of undergraduate majors, and
departmental decisions made by all faculty.
Bridges, BRAiN, and AMP), to be involved with the Jornada Basin Long Term Ecological
Research site, and faculty development programs such as the NM-INBRE and U54 PARC
programs.
Required Education, Experience, Certification / License, Equivalency
mechanisms of evolution in animals using state-of the field approaches. Applicants with
expertise in the use and maintenance of museum collections are especially welcome.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of : 1) teaching in areas of expertise, 2) training and experience in Discipline-Based Education Research.
Skills in : Teaching to undergraduate and graduate students, student advising, research area of interest (DBER), and experience in service or outreach to the community.
Ability to : Direct, evaluate, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information.
