Summary : The NM Produced Water Research Consortium (NMPWRC) seeks a dynamic leader to join its leadership team. The Assistant Director will oversee operations, budget, membership growth, outreach, and research coordination while managing a diverse membership base and key working groups. Strong organizational, fiscal, and interpersonal skills required.
Classification Summary : Assists in the direction and implementation of the research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives of an externally funded program. Ensures research and development activities will align with the program's quality system in accordance with customer and contractor requirements.
Classification Standard Duties : Provides leadership and management for a program's research and development activities. Obtains contracts and funding. Develops test capabilities to support the program and production test requirements. Provides efforts to enhance current products and develops new technologies and products. Evaluates and develops improved techniques for the control of research and development activities. Acts as liaison with external parties to procure services and materials for the program.
Required Education, Experience, Certification / License, Equivalency
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in a related field.; Required Experience : Ten (10) years of increasingly progressive management experience in one or more areas that report to this position.; Equivalency : None; Required Certification / License : None

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Position will oversee internal and external operations for the NM Produced Water Research Consortium (NMPWRC), a partnership between NMSU and the NM Environment Department. Specific duties and responsibilities include :
1. Provide leadership and management of annual Consortium operational budget as approved by NMPWRC leadership team (Associate Dean, NMED Water Protection Division Director)
2. Provide leadership and management for Consortium annual membership (recruiting new members, bi-annual and annual membership meetings, membership agreements, etc.)
3. Provide leadership and management for Consortium technical and public outreach working groups, which are comprised of Consortium members, state and federal agencies, non-governmental agencies and academic subject matter experts from across the country.
4. Develop annual communications and outreach plan for the Consortium in partnership with NMPWRC leadership team (NMSU Associate Dean, NMSU Marketing and Communications, and NMED Water Protection Division Director) including management of NMPWRC website content, media communications, social media, etc.
5. Provide leadership and management of industry and community engagement and outreach programming to elevate sharing of Consortium research outcomes regarding alternative water use, re-use, and management (i.e., podcasts, webinars, community meetings, social media, etc.)
6. Coordinate with NMPWRC Technology Officer to ensure timely and transparent sharing of research findings, regulatory compliance with industry-engaged pilot projects, coordination of annual research budget and research plan, coordination of annual reporting requirements to NM Legislature and NM Higher Education Department, and tracking of NMPWRC milestones towards state goals and metrics in accordance with NMPWRC MOU between NMSU and NMED.
7. Serve as liaison with external parties to grow and support the work of the Consortium, including serving as point of contact for prospective membership or sponsorship of Consortium research and outreach programming, records management, requests for public records, and media requests.
