Classification Summary : Responsible for a wide range of services supporting the educational, social, cultural and welfare needs of students. Provides intervention for at-risk student populations including first-time attending, stop out, dropout, and withdraw students. Provides administration with retention reports and recommendations to increase student persistence, retention, and graduation rates. Establishes active internal and external relationships that enhance and support retention. Oversees tutoring services at four campus locations.
Classification Standard Duties : Oversees supervision of assigned staff which includes : work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance. Initiates contact with at-risk students via telephone. Assists students with information to enhance their academic skills and / or provides intervention to keep them enrolled. Compiles data from intervention contacts to monitor and analyze for patterns of plausible reasons for student attrition. Schedules and conducts regular staff meetings, monitors staff / tutor budget and prepares documentation to back-up budget requests. Monitors student tutor hires as well as tutor schedules and subject matter offered. May support and serve as a resource for the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. Conduct investigations of student non-academic misconduct, enforce code of conduct and sanctions. Interpret ensure compliance, enforce university and agency regulations; address concerns and issues. May assist with New Student and transfer student Orientation programs for undergraduates and parents. Responds to student relations issues including student and parent complaints, crisis management and problem resolution. Advises students, mediates, and resolves complaints and problems; interprets and enforces university policies. May identify training needs, plan and conduct training on student employment and performance issues. Participates on university wide committees and initiatives. Interprets and enforces University policies, procedures, state and Federal regulations. Serves as a resource to departments, administrators and community colleges on student related issues. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP :
Serve as a senior-level administrator in Student Life with responsibilities including providing supervision and leadership for Student Conduct & Community Standards and Student Life Technology & Communications units. Serve as secondary liaison to Athletic Department and sit on university committees including NMSU's CARE Team, Emergency Planning Committee, Co-Chair Clery Committee, Co-Chair Hazing Prevention & Education Coalition as part of HPO Cohort #6, Secondary contact for CART (Central Administrative Response Team).
STUDENT INCIDENT MANAGEMENT & ACCOUNTABILITY
- Student Organization Conduct - chair university organization conduct board
- Conduct investigations as needed for certain complex cases as assigned. Responsible for case evaluation, conducting party and witness interviews, identifying evidence, timely communication.
- Serve as a student conduct hearing officer as needed
- Support academic integrity initiatives towards increasing faculty awareness for supporting students during academic integrity situations
- Advise and serve as a procedural officer for hearings of the Interfraternity Council's Judicial Committee and other organization accountability programs.
