- Drives a school transportation vehicle with a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging scholars at designated stops – including after-school programs, events, sports, fundraisers, etc.
- Transports scholars and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
- Maintains order and proper discipline of scholar passengers according to school policy
- Conducts safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
- Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
- Assists with identifying the needs of and at times filling up the bus with gas, fuel, oil checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries
- Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition – internally and externally
- Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
- Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required
- Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of MN DMV compliance
- Operates a two-way radio for updates and safety measures
- Supports maintenance team on cleaning and maintaining building and facilities
- Sweeps, vacuums, and wipes floors, counters, carpets, restrooms, and cafeteria.
- Other building operational tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Must have a CDL License with school bus/passenger endorsement. To qualify for paid training the applicant must obtain a CDL permit before applying
- Experience driving commercial vehicles/buses
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screening
- Must have a clean driving record
- Ability to speak Hmong highly desirable but not required
- Experience working with scholars in grades K-8
