Position Summary:
The Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the branch operations and ensuring all operational functions, including transaction processing, deposit processing, and customer service, are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with established laws, regulations, and bank policies. This role is crucial for optimizing internal branch operations, leading operations team members, driving sales through cross-selling and referral opportunities, and contributing to the overall strategic and financial goals of the bank.
Supervisory responsibilities
• Directly supervises Point of Service and Sales (POSS) employees within the branch.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
• Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the bank, optimizing operational processes and procedures for maximum efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
• Evaluate operational workflow and propose enhancements to facilitate optimal customer experience and promote sales opportunities.
2. Sales and Cross-Selling:
• Identify and leverage opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services within operational activities, contributing to the achievement of the bank’s sales targets.
• Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to understand and promote current offerings and campaigns to operational team members.
• Train and motivate the operations team to recognize sales opportunities and make appropriate referrals, fostering a sales-orientated mindset.
3. Risk Management and Compliance:
• Ensure all operations comply with laws, regulations, and bank policies, and identify and mitigate operational and sales-related risks.
• Conduct and oversee internal reviews and audits to ensure operational and sales compliance.
• Liaise with Central Operations and Compliance Department to maintain an up-to- date understanding of industry regulations affecting bank operations and sales activities.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead, coach, and develop branch operations staff, promoting a positive, inclusive, and sales-focused working environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations, providing feedback and development opportunities to enhance both operational and sales skills of team members.
• Efficiently allocate resources and workflow, ensuring staff understand their duties, delegated tasks, and sales objectives.
5. Customer Service and Relationship Management
• Resolve complex customer service and sales issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve operational and sales issues and to improve overall customer service and satisfaction.
• Maintain strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and other external stakeholders to support operational and sales objectives.
6. Financial Management:
• Assist Director of Retail Banking in development of the branch operations budget, managing expenditures to ensure cost-effective operations and support sales goals.
• Contribute to the bank’s financial goals by optimizing operational processes and actively promoting sales and cross-selling opportunities.
7. Administrative Duties:
• Contribute to the cleanliness and overall appearance of the branch through various housekeeping tasks.
• Must occasionally lift or move items up to twenty-five pounds.
• Comply with and adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Head.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Further education in business or a related field is advantageous.
2. Bilingual skills desirable.
3. Minimum of five years of experience in banking operations and sales with a proven track record in managerial roles.
4. Skills:
Proficient knowledge of banking operations, processes, regulations, and sales strategies.
• Leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and sales skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and FIS system preferred.
5. Working Conditions:
• May require occasional extended hours to meet operational and sales needs.
• Standard office environment with occasional travel as needed.
