Full-Time, Non-Union, Non-Exempt Position
$19.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
BASIC FUNCTION OF COOK:
Provide daily evening meal for the residents of the shelter. Ensures all food products are prepared, served, and stored (seal in sanitary containers). Develop and maintain nutritionally balanced food menus. Maintain inventory of all food product and supplies. Submits request for food and supplies. Maintains an inventory and maintenance schedule for all food service equipment. Provides service and training to enroll students of Work Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF COOK:
- Responsible for all food service (daily meal preparation) related activity at Shelter.
- Orders and keeps inventory of all food supplies.
- Orders and keeps inventory of all kitchen supplies.
- Picks up donations from local stores and food share.
- Responsible for keeping sanitary conditions in kitchen and storage area’s (State Health Dept. codes & standards).
- Responsible for keeping and maintaining Health Dept. (food service) License current.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS OF COOK:
Education :
- H. S. or GED
- Culinary training/certification
Experience :
- 2-5 years in cooking/culinary work
- 1-2 years in food service management
Job Skills:
- Cooking (preparation)
- Food handling (sanitary)
- Serving (technique & professionalism)
- Ordering
Licenses /Certifications:
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (per Health Department Standards).
- Valid State of CT driver’s license.
