Immediate need for a bilingual WIC Medical Records Clerk.  Fulltime with lucrative benefit package including IPERS.  Position requires a high school diploma/GED.  Must be bilingual in Spanish (written and oral).  Computer skills including data entry, office equipment, customer service and attention to detail imperative.  Must be able to work in a professional setting with the health field.  Must have valid driver's license as travel is required.  AD#2507 EOE

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 Maintains all WIC clinic records.  Assists with client intake, distribution of EBT cards, and preparing clinic sites.  Maintains professional, confidential and courteous customer service at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Provides clinic and office support to WIC staff.
  2. Implements state and local agency policies and procedures. 
  3. Provides excellent customer service.
  4. Work as a team to set up computers, printers, router, hot spot, etc.
  5. Completes participant intake functions such as:
    1. Verifying participant residence, identification, and income
    2. Completing demographic information
    3. Ensuring voter registration activities are completed.
    4. Assisting participants in filling out forms. 
  6. Schedule appointments
  7. Issues food instruments and benefits.
  8. Assists with referring families as appropriate.
  9. Participates in training and actively promotes and supports breastfeeding efforts.
  10. Participates in outreach activities.
  11. Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities.
  12. Interacts and communicates with various programs
  13. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  14. Bilingual in Spanish.
  15. Follows Bloodborne Pathogen policies and procedures.
  16. Prepares needed inventory, EBT cards, policies, routing cards and clinic day schedule.
  17. Runs monthly reports including missed appointments and term report.
  18. Text appointment reminders as needed.
  19. Maintains clinic schedules and communicates with clinic locations. 
  20. Maintain clinic suitcases and box with adequate supplies.
  21. Maintains file boxes in orderly manner and especially miscellaneous file. 
  22. Maintains charts according to protocol.
  23. Maintains computer equipment.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES: 

1.               Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

2.               Ability to obtain and maintain a driver’s license, automobile, and current valid insurance in order to travel to designation locations.

3.               Knowledge of Agency’s policies, practices and procedures.

4.               Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and various other business and community contacts.

5.               Ability to work with confidential information.

6.               Ability to work in a team-based environment.

7.               Ability to adapt to the organization’s changing needs.

8.               Knowledgeable to check-in each family and start them through the system at clinic.

9.               Ability to prepare information and EBT cards to participants.

10.            Skill to set-up computer system for clinic distribution.

11.            Skill to prepare termination notices for women and children who are no longer eligible for the program.

12.            Skill to hand out the Voter Registrations to each client.

13.            Skill in sending all pertinent information to pregnant women on the schedule who have not showed up for scheduled clinic.

14.            Ability to issue a letter for those who need to be scheduled for nutrition education upon not showing up for scheduled clinic.

15.            Ability to type and run off copies of nutrition education material as needed.

16.            Knowledgeable to send transfer information to another county, state or mail appropriate information.

17.            Ability to understand WIC protocol, policies and procedures.

18.            Ability to attend State, staff/in-service meetings

QUALIFICATIONS: 

A high school diploma or its equivalent.  Proficient in the use of all office equipment and computer skills helpful.  Must have a valid drivers license and able to prepare clinic sites. Fluent in Spanish both written and oral.
