What are the responsibilities and job description for the Access Site Field Supervisor position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?

POSITION SUMMARY:
With oversight from the Access Program Coordinator and Site Access Liaison, the Site Field Supervisor coordinates field and site-related tasks to implement disability access elements for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. This role ensures the setup and maintenance of site elements comply with disability access requirements. The Site Field Supervisor is supported by the Access Field Assistant and works closely with the Festival’s Access, Logistics, Fair Operations, Sponsorship, Concessions, and Art/Sign Departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Site Responsibilities:
Assess and ensure compliant placement of:
- Portable and permanent restrooms, including restroom locks, signage, stocking, and cleaning coordination.
- Tables, chairs, tents, and tent openings/infrastructure.
- Portable pathway routes throughout the festival, identifying areas needing improvement.
- Ticketing and shuttle aisles and counters.
- Vending/concessions booths, craft, and beer booths, ensuring counter heights and clearances.
- Viewing areas (General Admission, VIP, etc.) at stages, in tents, and in the Grandstand, along with necessary infrastructure and supplies.
- ASL interpreter platforms.
- Collaborate with Site and Access Departments to document relevant site installations, locations, and specifications.
Logistics Responsibilities:
- Assist in procuring and placing barricades and other delineators.
- Implement striping and marking for pedestrian routes, seating spaces, parking lots, and other areas.
- Assist in reconfiguring the parking lot with signage and striping.
- Review and monitor the Festival’s shuttle lots and shuttle operations.
- Identify and implement the placement of dining tables and other patron-facing infrastructure.
- Assist in coordinating artist, staff, and volunteer ADA accommodations for site-related infrastructure.
Art Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist in the creation and installation of Access Department signs with the Access and Art Department staff.
- Assist other departments with language and placement of Access-related signs (e.g., table signs, credential sheets at stages, tent chair backs).
- Maintain, document, and improve the inventory and organization of the Access Program’s signs.
General Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Festival staff and volunteers.
- Organize, prioritize, and execute tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Handle multiple demands and perform work despite frequent interruptions.
- Problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Take direction effectively and remain available via radio contact at all times.
- Provide written reports and documentation as needed.
- Keep notes for improvements for future festivals.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to traverse festival grounds at a rapid pace and operate a golf cart.
- Experience using light-duty tools (e.g., screwdriver, staple gun, hammer, tape measure).
- Ability to lift heavy items occasionally and climb ladders.
- Endurance for long hours in an active, high-pressure outdoor setting, including heat and rain.
- Experience executing complex tasks in a fast-paced event or festival environment (preferred).
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design (preferred).
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- April 7, 2025 – May 9, 2025
- Non-Festival Days: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Festival Days: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Must attend two hours of pre-Festival training.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Utilize the Absentee Request Form for accurate reporting of absenteeism.
- Maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
- Submit any intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival to the Festival Finance Office as required.
- Attend and complete all required training sessions.
- Submit Feedback Forms and Final Reports promptly.
- Perform any additional work-related duties as assigned.
