What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dressing Room Operations Assistant position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.
April 14 to May 09, 2025
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in the setup and maintenance of all dressing room trailers and spaces, ensuring functionality throughout the event.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
LOAD IN:
- Assist with inventory, shopping, cleaning, and installation of décor, amenities, supplies, plants, and furniture into dressing room trailers and hospitality areas.
- Help assess and facilitate repairs and adjustments to trailers before show days.
- Organize and prepare the office/team trailer and storage pod for show day operations.
EVENT DAYS:
- Complete tidying and restocking of all trailers prior to talent load-ins.
- Execute special requests in trailers/hospitality areas with approval.
- Check in with dressing room managers to respond to supply, repair, or other special needs.
- Receive, sort, and distribute box lunch orders to artist crews as directed.
- Work with the Food Department and Talent Relations team to pick up and deliver vendor food orders to higher-level artists as needed and approved.
- Act as a construction department liaison when necessary, as directed by the Dressing Room Operations Manager.
- Build/strike onstage quick-change booths as needed, including stocking any hospitality items.
LOAD OUT:
- Strike, clean, inventory, and pack all décor, furnishings, supplies, etc., from trailers, hospitality areas, and the team office/trailer.
- Pack storage pod.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Utilize the Absentee Request Form for accurate reporting of absenteeism.
- Maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
- Submit any intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival to the Festival Finance Office as required.
- Attend and complete all required training sessions.
- Submit Feedback Forms and Final Reports promptly.
- Perform any additional work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Basic carpentry skills helpful.
- Some familiarity with festival/special event production preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with artists, volunteers, and Festival staff.
- Endurance for long hours in an active, stressful production setting.
- Active, outdoor position requiring some lifting of up to 50 pounds.
