What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandise Booth Manager position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: ALL JAZZ FEST EVENT DAYS
April 24 to May 4, 2025
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Merchandise Manager is responsible for the management of daily event operations for a maximum of 4 assigned merchandise booths with a designated zone.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Verify required tables and chairs are at each booth.
- Verify power is working daily.
- Set up booth displays.
- Receive POS systems at each booth.
- Ensure all POS system hardware and internet connections are working properly
- Ensure printer paper is adequately stocked for POS systems.
- Ensure inventory is dispersed to all assigned booths
- Counting booths daily beginning and ending inventories and verify inventories with inventory counters.
- Designate positions within the booth for scheduled staff before each shift begins.
- Track all booth staff time sheets and submit daily to Staffing Coordinator.
- Manage booth sales staff and ensure customer service standards are being followed.
- Ensure sales staff maintain a clean and professional booth.
- Ensure sales staff are running all sales through the POS system.
- Manage breaks for sales and inventory staff.
- Verify daily cash and credit card sales with HBC Booth Manager/Exchequers for booths
- Prepare cash for pick-ups.
- Close out all POS systems daily and ensure HBC Booth Manager/Exchequers have final reports and cash/receipts in hand before closing the booth.
- Ensure POS systems are boxed and stored at the end of day.
- Break down booths at the end of the Festival and prepare displays for storage.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Previous production experience is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-stress workplace.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
- Basic understanding of accounting procedures.
- Capable of performing some heavy lifting.
