What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parking Attendant position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: ALL EIGHT JAZZ FESTIVAL EVENT DAYS
April 24-27 & May 1-4, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY: Direct credentialed vehicles to designated parking areas. Direct pedestrians to ensure they follow designated walking paths through parking areas. If assigned, assist in directing lines at one of two Taxis stands. Enforce all Festival policies and procedures equally, fairly and professionally without prejudice or favoritism to promote goodwill and positive relations with staff, participants, and public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must learn and understand the parking credential system to be able to direct vehicles to proper parking area indicated on parking pass.
- Control vehicle and pedestrian flow and parking as directed by supervisors in assigned area.
- If assigned to Taxi stand, direct patrons into lines and into proper taxis to ensure a quick, safe exit.
- Liaison with staff posted in your assigned area from other departments such as Ticket takers, security, and NOPD.
- Observe, correct and report all safety and fire hazards in assigned area to your supervisor immediately. Be familiar with all emergency procedures.
- Observe and correct placement of barricades, fencing, barrels, and pennants in your assigned area to maintain crowd flow and security.
- Use and maintain assigned equipment in a professional and responsible manner.
- Attend all meetings designated as mandatory including the Training Session.
- Perform all other work-related duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the HR Office.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Must attend and complete any required training.
- Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Experience with dealing with the public a plus. Good verbal skills, able to interact with public and large diverse staff and communicate effectively via two-way radio. Clean police record.
Endurance for standing and walking long hours in an active and stressful production setting working outdoors in ALL weather conditions. (Accepting tips is strictly prohibited).
