What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sustainability Food Zone Lead position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.
April 21 - May 9, 2025 (FULL TIME)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sustainability Food Zone Lead oversees designated food areas to ensure vendors properly follow recycling protocols. They provide necessary receptacles, prevent overflow, and coordinate with other leads and the Sustainability Coordinator to ensure efficient collection and sorting of recyclables.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee recycling efforts within designated Food zones, coordinating with haulers and venue leads as needed.
- Maintain positive vendor relationships to ensure seamless recycling operations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess recycling compliance and document vendor materials.
- Manage the setup and breakdown of recycling zones within the Food areas.
- Source sustainable flatware, plates, cups, and other supplies when possible.
- Ensure daily completion of Food zone checklists.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
- Experience in team coordination or management.
- Strong communication and translation skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices (preferred).
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
- Ability to work long shifts (10-12 hours) on foot in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the Festival Finance Office.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Give any document, computer program, design, or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival (and, therefore, belonging to the Jazz Festival) to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Attend and complete any required training.
- Complete all required Feedback Forms and Final Reports.
- Must attend and complete any required training.
