Seeking an energetic and hardworking professional to assist our podiatric surgeon with patient care and patient encounters. We are a small group of kind, hard-working, health-conscious individuals seeking a like-minded team member. Nutrition and integrative/functional podiatric medicine is a component of our practice. We offer a professional and collaborative work culture and cross training in various areas of the medical practice.
This position is a hybrid role that requires scribing and medical assisting. It's a 'scribesistant' position. We will teach the scribing component; however, the position requires a typing speed of no less than 70wpm.
NOTE:
There is a secondary medical assistant working in tandem with the 'scribsistant.' That MA triages, performs diagnostic imaging, cleans and 'swiffers' the treatment rooms in between patients and performs aesthetic nail care under the direction of our physician. Thereby making sufficient time for the duties of this role to be performed. Nonetheless, it requires a 'high-energy,' kinetic person to perform it efficiently.
Job Description:
PRIMARY ROLE:
Follow our physician and scribe his encounters while concomitantly assisting him with patient care including in-office procedures.
Medical 'sribesistant' performs patient education, is knowledgeable with how health insurance works, prints out and teaches care-plans and post- procedure instructions, electronically submits and follows up on prescriptions and prescription requests.
Maintains and orders medical supply inventory.
Recognizes, addresses and assists in satisfying or resolving patient requests at the patient encounter level. Our patient service representatives are on campus to resolve any patient care concerns that arise. It is the assistant's responsibility to recognize and immediately report patient concerns to our senior team members. Patient satisfaction is our priority. We are dedicated to positive medical and health outcomes as well as positive patient experiences.
Follows up with patient concerns when asked by patient or team. Ensures any open concern is resolved by following until any concern/request is satisfied.
Fax, scan, shred.
Distribute and maintain digital downloaded diagnostic informations and handouts.
The medical assistant will provide input concerning work flow improvements, corrections or improvements to in-house documents or patient instructions during weekly meetings. The improvements are ongoing and are a collective team effort. This role requires excellent computer skills and the ability to produce grammatically correct documents.
A working knowledge of medical insurance and the ability to speak to patients about their individual insurance plans based on information provided by our insurance specialist.
Comfortably and professionally speak with patients about the monetary charges of their care before it is performed. We walk our patients through every step of their healthcare experience so they can make informed choices before medical treatments are performed. This is an important primary role.
3-D scanning for orthotics and AFOs ( we provide training )
Utilize our patient texting platform to communicate with patients.
SECONDARY ROLE ( When Needed/Rare)
Assist patients with all types of paperwork related to their visits.
Maintain the cleanliness of treatments rooms in between patient visits. This involves vacuuming and swiffering after every patient.
Assisting patients with portals.
Perform digital x-rays ( we provide training).
Drawing of injectables.
Candidates should have:
One year minimum as a certified medical assistant.
Excellent customer service skills- we are a kind. You will be required to go 'above and beyond' for your patients.
Working knowledge of insurance fundamentals because you will walk your patients through the insurance/monetary process so they can make informed decisions.
Ability to lift 15 pounds without issue. You will also need the ability to brace patients who have balance challenges.
Candidate must be able to:
- Work in our Uptown location M-F
- Utilize an EHR system.
- Work 40 hours per week.
- Type 75 wpm, utilize medical terminology and proper grammar and syntax.
