What You’ll Do
The ESL Coordinator will oversee the provision of high-quality programs for English Learners at New Paradigm For Education schools. The ESL coordinator will be responsible for overseeing English proficiency assessments, planning professional development and coaching activities for teachers who serve ELLs, consulting with administrators and teachers, overseeing the implementation of all requirements and best practices for serving ELLs, promoting cultural awareness and proficiency, supporting family and community engagement, and responding to requests.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education
Must have - or be on a path to - a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an ESL endorsement
5 years of classroom experience working with English Language Learners
Successful administrative or leadership experience at the school or district level
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the planning, scheduling, and administration of ESL-related assessments, including initial language proficiency tests, ongoing assessments, and reclassification evaluations. Ensure that testing is conducted in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining adherence to state and district policies.
Collect, analyze, and interpret assessment data to track the progress of ESL students. Provide detailed reports to administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders. Use data to inform instructional practices, program development, and student placement.
Assumes responsibility for the accurate and punctual preparation of all ESL reports.
Maintains accurate files of all past or currently served students in ESL programs.
Supports the work of teachers and staff with English learners in partnership with the school administrators.
Trains other NPFE staff for the purpose of ensuring their ability to provide appropriate, timely, and effective services to ESLs and their families.
Collaborates with administrators and staff to facilitate relationship building, cultural competency, and organization awareness as it relates to English learners.
