The DSP Lead role comes with an opportunity for a pay rate increase. You will step up in leading and assisting the Manager. You will grow in your skills as a DSP on the clinical side and also in your people management skills. Courses will be available, some required, to learn more about people management.

Sites and locations for the lead will be determined by need. Including the Hacienda, Villa, and the Coastal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform DSP job duties on the assigned shift.
  • Complete Progress Note Training Form weekly. Recommended to review daily notes from the day before to ensure completion for all individuals. Note time must match the attendance log and include daily outings and pertinent information.
  • Review data logs for specified individuals, ensuring they are completed consistently (i.e.: BM’s, Vitals, Blood Glucose, Sleep, Intake and Output, Repositioning, Seizure, Nutrition, Behavior).
  • Check QuickMAR for medication administration holes and PRN effectiveness.
  • Conduct observation during scheduled shifts on function, cleanliness of the house, individual supports, and staff performance, and provide feedback to the Manager.
  • Provide onsite training to new staff during their onboarding period (6090 days).
  • Greet visitors and Support Coordinators arriving after regular hours, ensure proper sign in and sign out, and report concerns and/or needs for followup to the Manager.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, required trainings, and required certifications.
  • Assist with medical appointments as needed.
  • Complete personal care and grocery lists and communicate with manager to schedule the trips.
  • May be required to attend intake/annual meetings.
  • Participate in Intake and Discharge meetings for individuals
  • Act as support to Manager when they are on vacation or offsite.
  • Complete house Audits with House manager (med closets, emergency supplies, house books, etc.)
  • Check PRN Totes for expired medications and/or items needing to be reordered.
  • Ensure the Menu is updated when meals change.
  • Assist with completing med observations.
  • May be required to attend SIS Meetings for individuals assigned to the specific location.
  • Disciplinary action meetings
  • Setting up the weekly work schedule
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED preferred

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

The employee must have:

  • Efficient organization skills
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision

The employee must be able to:

  • Work flexible hours (available weekends, evenings, and overnights)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some travel maybe required.
