What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Services - Fitness: Group Fitness Body Pump Instructor position at New Prague Area Schools?
Required for hire: Les Mills Body Pump Training & Certification (can be obtained upon hire)
Under direct supervision of the Fitness & Aquatic Supervisor and Group Fitness Coordinator: provides group fitness instruction, monitors, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.
JOB DUTIES
- Adheres to the Body Pump choreography and Les Mills instructor standards
- Prepare and teaches physiologically sound and safe classes, beginning and ending on time; while motivating participants and being creative.
- Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques.
- Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for participants.
- Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.
- Ensures that safety standards are met and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Comply with watching all educational videos as assigned.
- Attend group exercise meetings and training sessions.
- Participates in community events.
- Follows all of the ISD 721 policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Required: Certification for Les Mills Body Pump.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing, technique, and rhythm.
- Choreography and music skills.
- Ability to be professional and motivate class participants. Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally must aide or assist participants. The employee must have a high degree of energy, be physically fit, and have the endurance to complete the workout.
