What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Lifeguard position at New Richmond Area Centre?
As a certified lifeguard, the Lead Lifeguard’s primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area. The Lead Lifeguard is responsible for swimmer safety, preventing accidents, assisting swimmers, and responding to emergencies. They will implement safe and high quality programs for Centre Members and guests.
This position will include lifeguarding, specialty aquatic programs, CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard training, and swimming lessons.
Program Activities: Ensure the delivery of high quality aquatic programs to members, participants, and guests.
· Monitor activities in and near the water.
· Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors.
· Enforce facility rules and regulations and educating members about them.
· Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
· Administer First Aid, CPR and AED in an emergency if necessary.
· Teach amazing level swim lessons to Centre members and guests.
· Follow aquatics processes and procedures
· Facilitate pool rentals and birthday parties.
· Deal with member and participant concerns in a timely, professional manner.
· Maintain program areas and equipment in a clean, safe, functional manner to meet all relevant standards. Contact supervisor with facility concerns immediately.
· Work as part of a team with other guards and staff.
· Increase membership participation by providing high quality programs to members.
· Maintain all required certifications and attend recommended training programs.
Other Responsibilities:
· Test chemicals.
· Assist members which include conducting safety orientations, performing swim tests, and fitting lifejackets.
· Cleaning or performing maintenance.
· Completing records and reports.
· Performing opening and closing responsibilities.
Lead Activities:
· Coordinate and deliver aquatic programs including, but not limited to, lifeguarding, lifeguard coverage, and CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard/AED certification instruction.
· Ensure that aquatic staff receives the necessary training to meet the requirements of the position.
· Train a professional team of qualified aquatic staff. Assist with new team member on-boarding.
· Facilitate monthly in-service trainings.
· Provide shift direction to team members.
· Prepare schedules to ensure adequate, proper, and professional coverage during all programs, activities, and open swimming times.
Qualifications:
· Minimum age of 18.
· Current lifeguard certification.
· Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
· Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
· Effective verbal communication skill to team members and participants.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $22.00 per hour
