Property Description:
Established in 1923, the New Richmond Golf Club has an extraordinary 100-year-old history. Located in Western Wisconsin, this semi-private, member-owned club boasts 27-holes consisting of an 18-hole Championship Course (Old Course) and a reversible 9-hole Links Course. Starting originally as a 9-hole course, the NRGC has continually expanded throughout its history adding an additional 9 holes in 1983, followed by the opening of the Links Course in 1997. Along with that, the Club opened a premier practice facility in 2009 consisting of a 32-stall, 320-yard-long driving range with a practice putting green and pitching area. A double-row Toro irrigation system was also installed at the Old Course in 2009 and has an up-to-date Lynx software system. The Old Course greens consist of Bentgrass varieties and Poa Annua – The Links Course greens are predominately Bentgrass varieties. The tees, fairways, and approaches consist of a blend between low-mow Bluegrass, Ryegrass mixtures, Bentgrass varieties, and Poa Annua.
Position Overview:
As the Assistant Superintendent, you will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain the golf course to the highest standards. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, ensuring turf health, and assisting in the planning and execution of course maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily maintenance of the golf course, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management.
- Supervise and train staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Foster strong communicate with the grounds team, clubhouse staff, and membership.
- Monitor turf conditions and take corrective actions to ensure optimal playing conditions.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of tees, greens, fairways, and roughs.
- Help manage the irrigation system, ensuring proper water distribution and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records for inventory, pesticide applications, and other necessary documentation.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to implement agronomic programs and long-term planning for course improvement.
- Assist in the preparation for tournaments and special events, ensuring the course meets all necessary standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance or turf management (or related field).
- A degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass, horticulture, and pest management practices.
- Experience with golf course maintenance equipment and irrigation systems.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of up to 20 effectively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality course conditions.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and some holidays as required.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary: $40,000 - $55,000 per year
