Job Summary
The Operations Manager ensures efficient management of the church’s administrative, operational, and HR functions. This role works closely with the Executive Pastor to develop and maintain systems that support the church’s mission and facilitate a welcoming and organized environment for staff, volunteers, and congregants.
Duties
Administrative Management
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, maintaining organized systems and responding to communications in a timely manner.
- Assist with managing the church calendar, coordinating events, services, and room bookings to avoid scheduling conflicts, with input from church leadership.
- Maintain accurate records and databases, including membership, volunteer participation, and financial documentation, ensuring accessibility for leadership as needed.
- Support communication efforts, including newsletters, website updates, and social media content, in alignment with overall church goals.
Human Resources
- Facilitate HR processes, including staff and volunteer onboarding, payroll coordination, and maintaining personnel records, in alignment with church leadership guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and tax regulations, including assisting with background checks and other required processes.
- Monitor staff schedules, leave requests, and performance evaluation timelines, ensuring leadership is informed of key updates.
Operations & Facilities
- Oversee building maintenance, vendor contracts, and insurance policies to ensure the facility remains safe and operational.
- Coordinate the use of church spaces for internal and external events, ensuring all logistical needs are met.
- Work with contractors and volunteers to manage repairs, improvements, and facility upkeep.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer to develop and maintain the operational budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a key liaison between the pastoral staff, trustees, and church committees to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
- Partner with church leaders to identify and implement strategies for operational improvements.
- Support volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling for operational needs.
- Participate in leadership meetings, contributing insights to support operational excellence and church growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field is preferred; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in operations, administration, or HR (church or nonprofit experience preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and CRM systems (e.g., Planning Center). Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 24 per week
