We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Adjunct Nail Tech Instructor who is passionate about cultivating the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student. Because of our commitment to community, employment preference is given to residents who live in WV and the New River Community Technical College service area.
This position is an Adjunct position for the Greenbrier County Campus located in beautiful Lewisburg, WV and will report directly to the Dean of Technical and Workforce Programs. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.
Job Summary: Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties.
Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
- Possess thorough and accurate knowledge of his or her specific field/discipline including the ability to evaluate and apply content.
- Prepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and follow the published final exam schedule.
- Be committed to professional development by keeping current in their respective discipline.
- Select and develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning; create appropriate assignments to encourage student learning, the development of communication skills, and higher-order thinking; and use available instructional technology, as appropriate.
- Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of the content.
- Meet classes as scheduled; notify the appropriate Chair or Dean in advance if they are to be absent, and, if possible, arrange for a substitute instructor or assignments for his or her class.
- Be accessible to students through e-mail, wireless/cellular technology, or scheduled office hours including arranging, when necessary, additional time for appointments.
- Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback.
- Evaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student performance.
- Evaluate students based solely on their academic performance and respond promptly to student grade questions and/or appeals.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ academic standing; promptly provide final grades, attendance, and other information as required by the administration.
- Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in clear communication of subject matter to the students.
- Fulfill all requirements as stated in college policies and procedures including mandatory training.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings and exercise stewardship in the use of college facilities and materials.

Skills/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong public speaking and or presentation skills
- A Current Cosmetology Instructor license is required.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree
OR
Certificate of completion from a cosmetology school
Required Qualifications
Nail Technician
Minimum of four (4) years of full-time employment as a Nail Technician or Cosmetologist and a current Instructor Certification issued by the State Board of Cosmetologists and Barbers. OR
A minimum of two (2) years of recent, related full-time industry experience and an Associate Degree.
