New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is in Virginia’s New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The Dublin campus and Christiansburg site provide modern, well-equipped facilities for the college’s career and technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:
- Conduct daily property inspection to remove litter and empty outdoor trash cans.
- Maintain flowerbeds by weeding and clear fields with a bush hog.
- Assist other facilities personnel with snow and ice removal using equipment like tractors, trucks, snow throwers, shovels, and scrapers.
- Maintain cleanliness of buildings, grounds, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating ground maintenance equipment.
- Willingness to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
- Awareness of safety protocols when using tools and equipment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills to follow instructions from the Facilities Director, contractors, and other employees.
- Previous experience in ground maintenance or landscaping.
