Position Overview
Implements all water safety policies and procedures; supervises members and guests in and around the swimming pool(s) and beach
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises and observes swimmers at all times at water front and pool to ensure their safety
- Enforces rules of conduct governing pool use
- Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises of swimmers
- Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items
- Assists in swimming lessons for members as directed by the instructors
- Organizes and monitors pool games at all times
- Checks all safety equipment daily and locates such equipment in the best place for easy use
- Sweeps and washes pool deck area daily. Empties trash containers and straightens furniture daily
- Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning and at the end of the day; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard storage
- Straightens the pool and cabana areas at the end of each day
- Keeps a pool log consisting of but not limited to:
- Opening and closing times daily
- Water tests for temperature, PH factor and chlorine content twice daily
- Recording of all accidents
- Notifies Beach Maintenance of clean up around beach barrels that may be needed
- Assists with clean up as necessary
- Attends all meetings as requested by Director.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Company at its discretion from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Adequate knowledge of and training in pool chemistry, rescue and surveillance techniques, CPR/AED and blood-borne pathogens.
- Participates in pool safety programs and risk management.
- Employs only those methods and teaching techniques outlined and approved by the American Red Cross.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situation
Credentials & Experience:
- Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
- American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card.
