Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, support the medical team, and ensure the safety and comfort of patients during their hospital stay. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
- Assist with specimen collection and processing as needed.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding health management and treatment plans.
- Perform triage duties to prioritize patient care based on urgency.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems, including Athenahealth.
- Support patients with behavioral health needs and coordinate home community care when necessary.
- Execute procedures such as gastric lavage when indicated.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to internal medicine and outpatient care.
- Strong skills in specimen collection processing and documentation.
- Ability to perform triage effectively in a busy clinical setting.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Experience in home community care settings is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals effectively.
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess situations quickly and make informed decisions.
- AHA (American Heart Association) BLS is required.
