What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at New South Construction Supply, a Colony division?
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in monitoring and reviewing the day-to-day transaction recording and assisting in performing the month-end close process. In this role, you will serve as the sales tax and Avalara subject matter expert, interacting not only with your accounting peers, but also with branch personnel throughout the southeast to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.

- Review and post recurring journal entries for accuracy
- Prepare balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Review fixed asset accounting, including quarterly and annual roll-forward preparation
- Review and monitor sales tax accounting, working with Avalara
- Assist in implementing Versapay, an automated customer payment portal
- Following implementation, monitor and managing customer payments posted manually and through Versapay
- No travel is anticipated
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications and What you'll Need for Success:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting
- 2 years of public or corporate accounting experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong fluency in Microsoft Excel formulas and functions
- Excellent organization skills and acute attention to detail
- Strong creative problem-solving, decision making, and motivational skills
- Highly developed interpersonal, presentation, and oral/written communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experience with Epicor Prophet 21 (P21), Versapay and Avalara
- Wholesale distribution industry experience desired, with construction products distribution experience preferred
