Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with individuals to help them achieve their highest level of independence and improve their quality of life. You will provide therapeutic interventions in various settings, including group homes and community care environments, focusing on patients with disabilities, memory care needs, and those requiring hospice care. Your expertise will be essential in developing personalized treatment plans that address each patient's unique challenges.
Duties
As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing patients' physical and mental health to determine their therapy needs.
- Developing individualized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic activities to enhance daily living skills.
- Administering medications as required and monitoring patient responses.
- Collaborating with caregivers and family members to provide education on patient care techniques.
- Providing therapy in various settings, including home community care, group homes, and hospice environments.
- Assisting patients with mobility and lifting as necessary to ensure safety during therapy sessions.
- Documenting patient progress and adjusting treatment plans based on ongoing assessments.
- Engaging in group therapy sessions to foster social interaction and support among patients.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in memory care settings is preferred.
- Skills in caregiving and patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding of diverse patient needs.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols within a therapeutic context.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining strong communication skills.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
