Behavior Technician at New Story Schools - Outreach Services

New Story Schools is seeking an  Behavior Technician to supports students with autism and related special needs by fostering a positive, inclusive, and effective learning environment. This role involves implementing behavioral and educational programs, working collaboratively with educators and therapists, and assisting with data collection to ensure students' progress and success. The Behavior Technician models behavior consistent with the mission of serving children with excellence and meeting their individual needs. 

What we offer:

  • Compensation: $17.00to $20.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
  • Schedule: 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students during instructional and non-instructional activities. 
  • Assist in creating an environment conducive to learning for individual students. 
  • Implement lesson plans, activities, and behavioral strategies provided by Intervention Specialists and Supervisors. 
  • Supervise and manage student behavior using principles of behavioral science and assigned behavior management tiers. 
  • Interact and communicate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members. 
  • Serve as a source of information between the school and parents, maintaining regular communication as directed by supervisors. 
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional skills and provide updates on student progress. 
  • Record accurate data on student attendance, assessments, program objectives, and progress. 
  • Use formal academic and behavioral data to assist in interventions and decision-making. 
  • Submit all required records and reports by established deadlines. 

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent (48 semester hours) or higher.
  • Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for Special Education, demonstrated by patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.
  • Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences.
