Your Role as an Occupational Therapist:
- Develop and manage IEPs through the creating and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Implement individualized IEP goals and objectives aiming to promote fine motor, perceptual motor, self-care, sensory integrative skills, and play activities, as well as neuromuscular function.
- Implement occupational therapy activities to meet student needs and encourage progress.
- Work collaboratively with members of the student’s multidisciplinary team, other related service professionals, school district personnel, outside service providers, and the student’s family to design and implement appropriate services.
- Demonstrate appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques, including knowledge of student privileges and responsibilities.
- Complete quarterly Progress Reports and provide information to parents/guardians and school districts.
- Attend multidisciplinary team and IEP meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Utilize verbal non-violent crisis intervention techniques as needed.
- Maintain occupational therapy supplies and equipment and order supplies/sensory devices as needed and requested by families/school districts.
- Assist in the care and use of technical devices and/or assistive equipment if needed.
- Provide information to teachers and families as requested.
- Maintain daily billing logs with services provided in relationship to IEP guidelines. Travel to other school locations, as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Must hold valid OH Occupational Therapy professional license.
- Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences, Biology or Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, multidisciplinary team members, and other personnel involved in child’s educational/behavioral program.
- Must have knowledge of child development and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.
- Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must display a professional appearance and demeanor.
