Job Responsibilities :
Help students and families gain insight into their difficulties and facilitate change by conducting individual, group and family psychotherapyProvide crisis intervention psychotherapy as needed to address emergent situations during the school dayComplete biopsychosocial assessments as part of the intake / referral process, discharge summaries, transition planning and goal progressMaintain student's clinical file by recording entries of treatment sessions, completing treatment plans and progress reports, and providing information on goal progress in relevant documentation such as IEP's, I&RS plans, and 504 plansPrepare discharge summaries and mid-year and end-of-year clinical summariesPrepare clinical presentations for staff meeting regarding issues pertinent to presenting needsSupport educational staff through clinical intervention and sharing of knowledgeAttend staff meetings and school-related functions as requestedQualifications :
A master’s degree in counseling, psychology, counseling, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.Posses an active LAC, LSW, LPC or LCSW certificationMust have current NJ license.Demonstrated understanding of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation.Understanding and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs of students and families.Knowledge of developmental theory and interventions with students, groups and families.Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in counseling and education.Preferred / Nice to have :
Previous experience working in a school setting, ideally as an LAC, LSW, LPC or LCSW.Proven ability to effectively manage crises and implement de-escalation techniques.Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students, especially those with special needs.Equal Opportunity Statement
