Property Underwriter

The successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of a profitable and growing portfolio of business by effectively and efficiently underwriting risks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Underwrite requests and applications to determine risk acceptability along with policy terms to process new business
• Review and process renewals, endorsements and cancellations
• Provide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from agents
• Visit agencies to communicate underwriting approaches, facilitating public relations efforts and solving problems
• Attend meetings and informational seminars
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• License in Property and Casualty Insurance from the Minnesota Department of Commerce or possess the ability to acquire this license upon starting the underwriting position
• Previous property and casualty experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
• Strong computer skills
