This position is a multifaceted role in a growing medical practice. The Clinal Medical Assistant will also assist with patient care, medical procedures (procedure room circulator), assist an ordering clinical supplies, overseeing the completion of new/ existing EHR charts, and the operation of the urine analysis machine. Managing Medical Devices, Brace, PT/OT/Home Health referrals to outside vendors, assisting the medical doctor with spinal procedures and various administrative tasks. Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
- Assist with medical procedures (joint, injections, Botox) including spinal procedures.
- Provide assistance with In-Office procedures i.e. SCS, Kyphoplasty, spinal injections, epidural steroid injections, and joint injections weekly (procedure room circulator).
- Perform administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, EMR messages, etc.
- Perform clinical duties, such as assisting with medication and procedure authorization when requested - training and clinical protocol provided.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with pain management and addiction medicine treatments.
- Educate patients on chronic pain conditions and sports medicine treatments.
- Triage, take patient histories, and vital signs for all patients.
- Prepares patients for examination and/or procedures.
- Assists the physician and mid-level provider with examinations and treatments
- Performs selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician.
- Collects, prepare laboratory specimens, and run urine analyzer machine e.g., urine drug screen samples.
- Sterilizes medical instruments as appropriate.
- Prepares and administers IM & SQ injections as directed by a physician and mid-levels.
- Comprehensive documentation during each clinic visit into patient’s electronic record (Elation EMR) and data entry into Tebra; scans and indexes documents accurately to patient’s charts
- Overseeing the completion of new/ existing EHR charts
- Speaking with patients, pharmacies and providers regarding patient care issues.
- Answering Medical Assistant specific calls, seeing to it that messages are worked from time of receipt to resolution.
Qualifications
- Reliable transportation
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- BLS certification
- Medical Assistant Experience
- Minimum of one year pain management experience Preferred
