What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Coordinator position at New Territory Residential Community Association?
The Athletic Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and coordinating various recreational and community service programs at The Club, such as athletic activities, special events, classes and tournaments. The Athletic Coordinator also recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates subordinate professional and paraprofessional recreation workers and volunteers; develops schedules, registration processes and fees for adult and youth recreation services; conducts outreach and marketing activities with users, sponsors and community groups; and performs related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Athletic Coordinator. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Supervise recreation staff, including determining workloads and schedules, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures, evaluating staff performance and making hiring and disciplinary recommendations.
- Plan, organize, conduct and coordinate a wide variety of recreational and community service programs at The Club, including meeting with public groups to explain and promote programs; schedule activities and programs; coordinate programs with those of other departments and agencies.
- Monitor program activities to ensure they are running smoothly; respond to questions and complaints in a timely manner.
- Prepare a variety of reports and other documents, such as operating, activity and statistical reports, and promotional materials.
- Provide input into the development of budgets, including determining staffing and materials; develop fundraising campaigns and solicit sponsorships.
- Oversee rental and registration activities and ensure accurate record keeping for program receipts.
- Maintain contacts with neighborhood groups, schools, businesses, law enforcement agencies, volunteer and other community groups and provide necessary coordination of services.
- Instruct and supervise recreation staff and volunteers in the performance of assigned duties and check on the completion of work.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications:
To be qualified for the position of Athletic Coordinator, one must have the following education and experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
- A bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, physical education, leisure services or a related field.
- Five years of professional recreation experience, which must have included one year of lead or supervisory experience.
Knowledge of: (at entry)
- Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment, review and training of staff in work procedures.
- Principles and techniques of planning and directing group, social and recreational activities for various age groups.
- Recreation program development methods and practices.
- Principles and practices of managing recreational programs for community parks, community centers, aquatic centers and/or athletic facilities.
- Computer applications related to recreation management.
- Basic budgeting theories and principles.
- Recreation site management, including coordination with special instructors and concessionaires.
- Techniques for effectively representing NTRCA in contacts with users and the community.

Work Schedule:
Employee must be able to work flexible hours starting at 5:30 am to 9:30 pm Monday through Sunday. Scheduled hours will include weekends and holidays. Forty hours per week are required; however, employee may be required to work more in any given week. Non- Exempt employees are eligible for overtime.
Compensation:
The salary range is competitive and will be based on qualifications and experience. Paychecks are administered on the 15th and the last day of the month. Employees will also receive a discount on The Club programs and access to fitness facilities.
