We are looking for a Part-Time ophthalmic assistant/technician to join our world-class team! This position would be for a late morning or afternoon start, and available in the evenings.
The ophthalmic technician position exists to care for the patient, perform tests and necessary imaging as required, and assist the doctors in their clinics with patient care. Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements for patients, including visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.
- Assist with the administration of eye drops and other medications as directed by the physician.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with clinic protocols.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment, ensuring proper aseptic techniques are followed.
- Educate patients on procedures, treatments, and proper eye care practices.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Support the optical department by assisting with retail math calculations and inventory management when needed.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for patient data management.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a similar clinical role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices related to ophthalmology is a plus.
- Familiarity with optical equipment and procedures is highly desirable.
- Understanding of physiology related to ocular health is essential.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining medical records.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while providing exceptional patient care.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients and team members.
