ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Director of College and Career Readiness (DCCR) reports directly to the School Leader and is a member of the School Leadership Team. The DCCR is responsible for keeping Urban Dove aware about ongoing trends, shifts, directions, and opportunities in the post-secondary milieu, and increases agency, ideas, and motivation of UD Youth in determining their post-secondary pathway. The DCCR will supervise a staff of college counselors, youth development staff, a workforce lead, and an alumni coordinator who will carry out the day to day functions of the department.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Urban Dove Team Charter School (UD Team) is a distinctive network of sports-based high schools catering to over-aged, under-credited youth. We fuse a robust academic curriculum with sports-based youth development, ensuring our graduates receive a diploma, a stepping stone for higher education, and essential job skills.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve on the school’s leadership team.
- Supervise and observe CCR staff, providing feedback.
- Conduct staff check-ins and address performance issues.
- Lead professional development focused on overage-under credited students.
- Oversee College All Stars and Workforce curriculums.
- Plan College and Work Industry tours.
- Administer PSAT/SAT Prep programs.
- Track CDOS credential eligibility and oversee the Working Paper process.
- Ensure staff adherence to school policies and protocols.
- Support positive behavior management using TLCs.
- Collaborate with Data and Programming Manager on student schedules and graduation paths.
- Oversee student feedback and progress report distribution.
- Counsel and mentor students.
- Manage weekend retreats, summer camp, and college tours.
- Liaise with HiRisers and other internship sites.
- Provide varied internship opportunities and post-secondary support.
- Oversee CCR department data collection and communication.
- Engage parents, inform them of expectations, and ensure regular communication.
- Arrange department coverages and oversee extra session activities.
- Maintain inventory of department assets.
- Manage department budget and transitions.
- Mentor a group of students.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree from a competitive college or university. Masters preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in youth development with high school age youth
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a youth service or school environment
- Demonstrated ability to “multi-task” and deliver high quality work
- Desire to devise and implement programming to address the unique needs of our population
- Commitment to the UD Team mission and core values of Teamwork, Leadership, and Communication
- Commitment to the use of restorative practices and a strength-based, youth development approach to student issues
- Must be team-oriented, with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a passion for serving at-risk youth, and a sense of humor
- Transfer School experience preferred
