The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers and is responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations, and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. This opportunity is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. Required Education and Experience
- High School degree or equivalent
- CMA or RMA certification
- Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
Preferred Education and Experience
- 1 years’ experience in an outpatient medical office setting
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree
- Phlebotomy certification
Essential Functions

- Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient, address patient concerns about the session.
- Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e. verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non-covered services, encounter form)
- Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider
- Ensure complete and accurate information in the patient chart
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements
- Assist with completion of patient requests
- Manage referral process, outpatient test scheduling and precertification
- Manage medication prior-authorizations
- Interact with billing office as needed to resolve patient issues
- Provide patient with good customer service
- Document in chart and EHR the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for session
- Conduct urine drug screens as required
- Complete prior authorizations and obtain physical and lab exams as required
