The Purchasing Specialist functions as the primary source of purchasing needed supplies and materials for the facility. All services are provided at the highest standard of professional practice, complying with standards by both federal and state regulations and facility policies.
Required Education and Experience
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to record/enter data neatly, accurately, and objectively; consistent with Oakwood requirements
Preferred Education and Experience
• 6 months of business purchasing experience
• Experience with Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other purchasing software applications.
Essential Functions
1. Works closely with the Corporate Office to purchase all needed items and repairs for the facility.
2. Works with all departments and homes across Oakwood to purchase supplies and equipment as needed.
3. Works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure that all equipment is updated, repaired, or replaced, and remains in good working order.
4. Approves petty cash requests and oversees the Finance Office’s petty cash fund.
5. Locate vendors that provide services and materials for our special population.
6. Make motel reservations and ticket purchases for staff and clients when needed.
7. Manages all operating duties and records of the purchasing Office.
8. Coordinates repair and replacement of damaged personal property.
9. Learn and follow all policies and procedures.
