Shift Lead

New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Philadelphia Location.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Lead I is responsible for monitoring and directing the mentor staff who work directly with clients and residents. These individuals are responsible for various direct care services as well as supporting the Mentor I and Mentor II employees.

         

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes the client's treatment plan to provide feedback in regard to achieving goals.
  • Holds routine meetings to address staff concerns and provides feedback to administrative staff.
  • Maintains weekly budget/monies for each residence and dispenses this money as appropriate
    (includes a return of receipts for money spent).
  • Maintains a list of household maintenance chores for completion and reviews/completes work
    orders as needed.
  • Conducts routine audits of Emergency Call list information to ensure communication between
    direct staff and administrators
  • Reviews weekly appointment list and provides prompting/assistance to staff to ensure client
    compliance with appointments
  • Uses age-appropriate vocabulary while displaying compassion, respect, flexibility, and hope to all
    individuals
  • Displays objective, empathetic detachment and willingness to become conscious of and manage
    personal biases, maintaining a non-judgmental, non-punitive demeanor and approach.
  • Consistently uses patience and persistence in helping to establish and maintain the consumer's
    motivation.
  • Assists the team in gathering and providing relevant data to the multidisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Works with the multidisciplinary Treatment Team to review the client's history and assessments.
  • Consistently observes and assesses consumers for mood and behavior changes.
  • Completes routine checks to ensure individuals assigned are present, well, and free from possessing contraband, and that the facility is safe and secure.
  • Within the context of the multidisciplinary Treatment Team, assists with identification of goals,
    measurable objectives, and interventions to assist consumers in attaining these goals.
  • Interprets data in relation to consumer's age and uses the information to assist the team in
    formulating a treatment plan.
  • Provides one-to-one therapeutic support to consumers in conjunction with therapists according to the treatment plan.
  • Assists the consumers to attain treatment goals as needed.
  • Assists consumers in their daily activities, i.e. cleaning, shopping, recreational, vocational, educational, etc.as needed
  • Assists in maintaining a clean living environment for consumers and staff.
  • Participates in interagency communication as it applies to facilitating consumer's treatment plan.
  • Assists in the periodic review of the consumer's treatment plans.
  • Recognizes potential and/or emergency situations and intervenes appropriately.
  • Consistently and thoroughly records consumers' progress.
  • Monitors male-female interactions and appropriately intervenes when boundaries are violated.
  • Monitors and maintains the environment for the safety of the consumer, staff, and visitors.

 

OTHER ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

 

  1. Abides by the employee health policies and human resources policy requirements.
  2. Attends mandatory training sessions at orientation and annually thereafter.
  3. Completes 12 hours of in-house or external training annually; at least one (1) staff development program addresses supervisory/management skills. In addition, attends an extra 10 hours of training annually.
  4. Attends various meetings, such as Medical Staff, Committee of the leadership meetings.

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Education:

Required:           High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or active status on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

 

 

2.           Experience:

Required:           A minimum of two years' experience in Human Services.

              

              Other:

                                           Required:           Be free from a medical condition, including drug or alcohol addiction, which would limit staff persons from providing necessary personal care services with reasonable skill and safety.

             

3.           Skills, knowledge, abilities:

             

  • Knowledge of regulatory and licensing requirements, and quality improvement theory and techniques
     
  • Knowledge of how to manage a diverse group of persons and skill in doing so.
     
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in behavioral health care field.

 

  • Ability to make fiscally sound decisions without compromising quality of staff and services

 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

5.           Working Conditions

Physical Demands: 

  • Able to sit, stand, walk for periods of time,
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to hear ordinary conversation and phone communications.

 

Equipment Operation

  • Able to operate common household equipment (e.g. vacuum, washing machine, dryer, etc.)
  • Able to operate common office equipment.
  • Ability to drive/transport individuals in own vehicle and/or company vehicle.

 

Hazards of Position

  • Physical/ verbal aggression of residents
  • Exposure to household cleaning products and second-hand smoke.
  • Slight risk to contact with blood-borne pathogens and other contagions.
