New Voices for Reproductive Justice (New Voices) is a leader in the Reproductive Justice movement. With nearly two decades of experience in identity-based and issue-based leadership development, community engagement and organizing, and state and federal-level policy advocacy, New Voices is the first Reproductive Justice organization in Pennsylvania and the first and only in Ohio. Our mission is to support and build power for and alongside Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people through leadership development, community care, resourcing, and mutual aid. Our work is firmly rooted in the Reproductive Justice framework, and our programming reflects our mission, focusing on core issues, including voter engagement, abortion access, and environmental justice.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) Door Canvasser The door
canvasser is responsible for conducting outreach to Black women, Black queer folks, and Black
marginalized individuals who are either unregistered or infrequent voters. The IVE canvasser is
tasked with door-to-door canvassing and phone outreach to gather data on social justice issues
affecting community quality of life. IVE canvassers help contact Black women, Black queer folks,
and Black marginalized voters and collect information on their experiences surrounding the ability
to access and utilize affordable healthcare. This is a strictly non-partisan effort to reach out to
underrepresented and historically disenfranchised voters in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and
Cleveland area and surrounding suburbs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Conduct door to door outreach to engage with Black women ages 18-49 in assigned
neighborhoods.
● Cultivate relationships with active, potential, and infrequent voters.
● Provide information on voter registration, polling locations, and general election details.
● Engage voters with New Voices initiatives and recruit program participants and volunteers.
● Collaborate with team members to coordinate canvassing efforts and achieve outreach goals.
● Mobilize support by recruiting volunteers, encouraging voter participation, and promoting
advocacy efforts.
● Accurately record information using electronic devices (e.g. tablets provided by NVRJ) after
each visit to collect data.
EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
● Interest and/or experience with phone banks, door-to-door canvassing, public speaking,
outreach and voter engagement
● Excellent communication skills and comfort speaking with strangers
● Ability to navigate directions throughout turf utilizing smartphone app (ie.google maps)
● Ability to discuss the mission, programs and work of New Voices for Reproductive Justice
specifically the IVE program
● Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends.
● Comfort with using the computer and voter engagement technologies, i.e. Voter Activation
Network
● Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality
● Ability to work with a diverse continuum of women and people of color including but not limited
to ability, age, education, familial status, gender identity, gender expression, immigrant status,
incarceration status, race, sex, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1) Travel within designated neighborhoods or communities to reach targeted
households. 2) Frequently required to work at a fast pace 3) Flexible schedules needed, including evening and
weekend work to reach potential voters or community members 4) may use electronic devices (e.g.,
smartphones, tablets) for data collection and communication with the organization. 5)The ability to lift 15
pounds with or without assistance; 6)Requires irregular hours including evening and weekend work.
Hourly Rate: $20 per hour.
Salary : $20
