JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineering Intern, Sustaining and Production is a member of the engineering department, supporting Sustaining and Production (S&P) teams and activities. Working under the supervision of a mentor, the Engineering Intern (S&P) will be involved on projects and tasks that support New World Medical (NWM) sustaining and production activities. These include, but are not limited to testing, report writing, laboratory maintenance and safety, troubleshooting equipment, validations, and engineering studies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all work in compliance with the company policy and within the guidelines of New World Medical Inc.’s Quality System.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, good clinical practice and FDA regulations.
- Under the guidance of the S&P team, the intern will perform various tasks supporting current production, equipment, and product sustainability lines.
- Run detailed reports on data gathered from production lines and communicate to S&P teams.
- Help organize and execute test protocols under the direction of S&P engineers, including process validation, equipment qualifications, and test method validations.
- Manage a short-term engineering project including trouble-shooting equipment lines, writing test protocols, execution of validation activities and writing the final report.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Great interpersonal skills, highly reliable, and eager to collaborate with others.
- Capacity to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations.
- Extremely organized with visual data representation.
- Capable of managing several projects simultaneously and showing adaptability when projects shift.
- Ability to use MS-Office software (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word and Adobe PDF effectively).
- Excel proficiency at intermediate level, preferably expert.
- Skills include visual representation of pivot tables and box-and-whisker charts.
- Ability to learn new excel skills and functions independently.
- 3D modeling skills (preferably SolidWorks).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Junior or senior status in a science and engineering major.
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science degree program or related academic major required.
- Minimal experience in a laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with general chemistry laboratory techniques and equipment, and the operation of basic analytical instrumentation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in clinical settings.
- Occasionally move about inside the office and travel to and from office buildings to access filing cabinets, employee offices, office machinery, etc. This may include, but is not limited to, bending and walking.
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer printer, computer keyboard, calculator, etc.
- Ability to listen and speak with employees and vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and transport them to other offices. This may be done with reasonable accommodation.
- View and type on computer screens for long periods of time.
- Must be able to read and manually conduct inspection processes and procedures with provided tools.
