Description
The prestigious New York Athletic Club, one of the world's premier private clubs, founded in 1868 located on Central Park South in Manhattan is seeking for a full-time Houseman. The candidate for this position will be responsible for all aspect of the housekeeping department. Candidate must be able to clean various areas with use of brooms, push brooms, mop and ringer bucket, vacuuming, shampoo machines, use of high-speed buffing floor machines, floor stripping machine, Leaf blower, wiping down surfaces and disinfecting surfaces by using cleaning solutions and chemicals including bleach, carpet stain remover, floor stripper, and brass cleaner. Candidate must be able to stand and walk for long hours during a 7-hour shift. Candidate must be able lift at least 50 lbs.
Requirements
Candidate must have prior experience in a similar work environment, 1 to 2 years' experience preferred. Must have basic knowledge of cleaning public spaces and uncommon spaces. Must have a flexible schedule. This includes being able to work all holidays, weekends, AM shifts, PM shifts and overnight shifts. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Candidate should have background in floor care. This includes striping and applying wax properly to floors, must be able to buff floors with the use of high-speed buffing machines. Candidate should know how to use shampoo machines for carpets. Candidate must be able to work with cleaning chemicals with no restrictions.
Candidates permanent schedule will be based on hire date, as all open positions are posted and signed by seniority.
