Responsibilities :
This position provides support to LFKRI research community utilizing analytical flow cytometry and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS).
Responsibilities include :
Performing daily instrumentation quality control and weekly and monthly cleaning protocols on analytical flow cytometers and Advia2120i hematology system.
Training and assisting users on Cellaca PLX cell counter.
Monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Maintaining and operating BD FACSAria Fusion and BD FACS Symphony S6 cell sorters.
Communicate instrument issues to the vendors and help coordinating service calls.
Provide assistance and guidance to users.
Maintaining and ensuring accurate and legible records.
Ability to adhere to labs practices and procedures.
Performing general lab organization, including lab supply inventories and orders.

Qualifications : Education :
Bachelors degree in biological science or related field, or higher.
Experience :
Minimum 1-year experience in a research or clinical lab. Experience handling primary samples, tissue culture and using microscopes is required.
Minimum 1-year of practical experience with BD Bioscience analytical flow cytometers required.
Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge :
Advanced knowledge of basic and complex scientific and laboratory techniques.
Knowledge of computer programs including all Microsoft applications, Prism, biostatistics analyses, programs specific to instruments as needed.
Knowledge of BD Diva, FlowJo and FCS Express 7 software are preferred.
Skills & Abilities :
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to identify complex problems in a timely manner, decipher information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $55,000.00p / yr to $65,000.00p / yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicants skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
