Job Description:
We are seeking a Controller to join our team at the New York Center for Child Development. This pivotal role will oversee all financial operations, ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting while supporting our mission to provide exceptional services to children and families. Located in New York, this position is integral in maintaining our organization’s financial health.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and review of accurate financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports) and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or other applicable standards.
- Ensure the comply complies with all financial regulations, internal policies a, and controls to prevent errors and fraud.
- Mange company cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, making sure the organization can meet its financial obligations.
- Oversee or execute (as needed) billing through various invoicing systems for government services and grants.
- Provide guidance and oversight of the accounting team ensuring deadlines are met, and accuracy including payroll and monthly bank reconciliations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA certificate a plus.
- Ten (10) or more years of not-for-profit accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills a must.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong skills relative to accounting software required.
- Knowledge of FUND EZ accounting software preferred.
- Experience preparing NYS CFR and familiarity with NYC Vendor Portal/CMR/CMI a plus.
